After Mother Theodore Guerin was canonized in 2006, the Sisters of Providence began to fulfill the requirement that her remains be brought above ground and a shrine be constructed. An interim shrine was located in the Church of the Immacuate Conception. A permanent shrine was built beneath the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Visitors "Journey with a Saint" through exhibits leading to the chapel where Mother Theodore's remains lie within a wooden coffin. Jack Kelley, an architect from McBride Kelley, Baurer Architects, Chicago, played a role in the building of the shrine. Franciscan Father Mark Joseph Costello, a liturgical design consultant, designed the shrine. |
